Belle Air Plantation National Register of Historic Places Hosting special private events on the grounds, Belle Air – “Beautiful Site” – overlooks 200 acres of rolling farmland. Five acres of grounds, bordered by gigantic trees, are handsomely landscaped with spring blooming shrubs, formal garden borders, herb garden and outbuildings. Charles City County Recreation Center The Ruthville Social Center (capable of seating 300) with kitchen, outdoor swimming and wading pools is a popular location for wedding receptions, family reunions and other private events. Eagles Nest National Register of Historic Places Eagles Nest (ca. 1685) offers a spectacular view from a bluff high above a mile-wide stretch of the Chickahominy River. The house and grounds, including an expansive lawn overlooking the river, are a dramatic, historic setting for weddings, receptions, family events, corporate outings, country parties and other events up to 250 guests. Edgewood Plantation National Register of Historic Places Edgewood’s lavishly decorated interior provides an elegant setting for a wedding of 2 to 30, while her lush grounds and garden with gazebo, fountain and Chippendale bridge can accommodate up to 150. Fort Pocahontas at Wilson’s Wharf National Register of Historic Places Ft. Pocahontas offers a beautiful and historic setting for private events and weddings. The Binford House Museum overlooks a bluff on the James River for a scenic backdrop for parties ranging form 20 to 300 people. Piney Grove at Southall’s Plantation – 1790 National Register of Historic Places Lush gardens, a garden arbor, gazebos and a collection of historic buildings, including the 1917 Duck Church, can provide a backdrop for weddings, receptions and corporate functions.
